Jack Shoop started out growing and selling sunflower sprouts in Portland, Oregon in the late 1970′s and continued the business when he moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1985. People called him “Jack Sprout” when they saw him delivering his sprouts. That name sparked his imagination and led him to create my character Jack Sprout. Since he cannot sit down with every elementary student in the world and teach him or her the most important things in life, he wrote Adventures of Jack Sprout in Beaver Creek Meadow. He hopes that through this book students will learn how to be a good neighbor, make friends, work hard, be responsible for themselves and their natural environment, and more. Jack Shoop is one of my best friends, and I wish he lived here in Beaver Creek Meadow with me.
